Sumatra Mandheling – Single Origin

On the rugged west coast of Sumatra, near the port city of Padang, coffee has been cultivated for centuries in rich volcanic soil and lush tropical forests. From this region comes Mandheling, a name that has become synonymous with some of the finest coffees in the world. Admired for its depth and complexity, Mandheling is widely considered the crown jewel of Sumatran coffee.

Unlike bright, lively coffees from other parts of the globe, Sumatra Mandheling leans into richness. Expect a low, muted acidity paired with a heavy, almost syrupy body that feels thick and indulgent on the palate. Flavor builds in layers—earthy, chocolaty, and complex—before lingering with a long, satisfying finish.

This lot is a Grade 1 Triple Picked (TP) selection, meaning it has been meticulously hand-sorted not once, not twice, but three times. That extra care results in a cleaner cup while still preserving the signature “wild” character that makes Sumatran coffee so distinctive.

Roasted only after you order and shipped within 24 hours, our Sumatra Mandheling reaches you bold, fresh, and alive with flavor—never flat or stale.

What’s in the Cup:

  • Single Origin: Mandheling Region, Sumatra, Indonesia

  • Roast Level: Dark/Italian roast

  • Flavor Notes: Earthy · Dark Chocolate · Complex Spice

  • Body: Heavy, Syrupy

  • Acidity: Low, Gentle

  • Grade: Triple Picked, GR1

  • Altitude: 2,500 – 5,000 ft (760 – 1,500 m)

  • Process: Wet-Hulled (Giling Basah)

  • Drying: Patio & Mechanical

Why you’ll love it: Bold, rich, and complex, Sumatra Mandheling is coffee at its most indulgent. Heavy in body, low in acidity, and full of character—it’s the cup you turn to when you want depth and comfort in every sip.
